'Harvest Still Life': Watercolour painting with Pip Compton
Autumn is a time of abundance here on the farm, with heritage apples of all shapes and sizes, pears, berries, nuts, roses, tomatoes and crabapples all in full flight.
Following on from Pip Compton's beautiful watercolour workshops in early spring is this special class to observe, explore and capture the beauty of harvest time on paper.
During this full day workshop, Pip (a teacher by training) will first guide you through a series of exercises to help you hone your observational and watercolour skills and work with you to create a still life tableau from fruits and flowers gathered from the farm before using what you have learned to capture the scene on paper.
The class will include:
an introduction to brush strokes and colour mixing
an extended field trip through the garden and farm to collect harvest inspiration and material for your still life
an introduction to sketching your subject matter as a template for your watercolour work
and an extended session using your paints to capture the colours, shapes and essence of your still life under Pip's gentle guidance.
The aim of the day is not (necessarily) a completed work, rather, this is a chance to tap into your intuition and creativity in a beautiful location as a basis for further explorations at home.
The day includes all the watercolour supplies you'll need during the workshop, including paints, brushes and a beautiful heavy weight watercolour paper notebook (these are yours to take home) and, of course, a delicious harvest lunch and plenty of nibbles to sustain you.
Suitable for passionate creatives at any skill level including beginners.
